"...They are just too slow to be relevant or effective."
At the beginning of the century, before smartphones and wifi were accessible, it was the library and PCs that made connecting to the rest of the world possible. For this project, I am trying to capture the essence of that time through a webcam video with a nostalgic 2000s vibe. People think that our generation grew up playing iPads, but that is not true. Although we use the internet all the time now, it is still relatively new. The phenomenon is irreversible, almost like the new television.
I always preferred playing on the computer over reading books of words when my mom took me to the public library. Whenever I stay in a library for too long, it brings me back to the library we frequented when I was a kid. They say the only constant in life is change. Now, surprisingly (or not), the camera on my MacBook Air 2020 is not so much different from my MacBook 2010.
This video was filmed from a child’s perspective. Even though technology has progressed so much, there are still things that are the same. Everything is happening but there are still stuffs that are unchanged. It is like picking up a book where you left it.
